The Dupont Duplex + Carriage House
All Electric. Net Zero Energy Ready. Timeless.
The Dupont Duplex + Carriage House Project consists of 3 units of new construction housing on a single lot in Southwest Minneapolis. Units will be for rent and likely sold together to owner occupant/small landlord. This all-electric duplex with family-sized units will achieve Passive House Certification (by PHIUS), the highest performance green building standard for energy efficiency.
The project will be partially funded through proceeds from a Reg CF crowdfunding campaign via the portal Small Change. Check out how you can become an investor in the project today.
The Duplex and Carriage House will utilize high-performance passive house designs that will ensure healthy and quality buildings. High performance insulation reduces energy to run heating and cooling systems and keeps building components safe from moisture. Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) keeps air fresh and clean without losing conditioned warm or cool air. Finally, greater radiation control from windows will invite or repel heat as needed seasonally, reducing glare, and eliminating discomfort caused by drafts.
The duplex will be registered under the PHIUS Zero Certification (Passive House standards, with all electric energy sources comprising zero net energy used). The carriage house will be DOE Zero Energy Ready certified. Both certifications include Energy Star and EPA Indoor airPlus standards.
